SS Great Britain. Limited Edition of 50.
Launched in 1843 from the port of Bristol, the SS Great Britain was a remarkable and revolutionary ship. Dubbed “The greatest experiment since the creation”, she was the first ship constructed of iron, was given the most powerful engine ever to be used at sea, and a groundbreaking screw propellor. A testament to Brunel’s genius, she pled her trade for 43 years as a passenger and cargo vessel, before being damaged by storms off Cape Horn.
Stranded aground and decaying on The Falklands, she was eventually rescued and brought home to Bristol in 1970, where she now resides, restored to her former glory and a beloved daughter of the city.
